Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgeries in animals are performed to restore or improve the function and appearance of body structures that have been damaged or affected by trauma, congenital abnormalities, or disease.

• Skin Flap or Graft: These procedures involve transferring healthy skin from one area of the body to another to cover wounds, ulcers, or large defects. Skin flaps maintain their blood supply, while grafts rely on the recipient site for blood flow.

• Limb or Digit Amputation: When severe injury, infection, or cancer affects a limb or digit, amputation may be necessary. The surgery aims to remove the affected area while preserving as much functionality as possible.​

• Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: Animals with dental or jaw abnormalities may require reconstructive procedures to correct malocclusion, fractures, or soft tissue defects in the oral cavity.

• Ocular Reconstructive Surgery: In cases of severe eye injuries or congenital abnormalities, reconstructive surgery can help improve eye function and restore a more normal appearance.
